When it comes to growing up, most kids spend most of their childhood around their cousins. Often, kids have many disagreements, leading to silly little fights. This was the exact case for freshman Milan Sigala, yet it worsened.

When Sigala was around eight, he and his family traveled to Lancaster, CA, where his cousins on his mom’s side live. They all thought it would be a typical trip since they would visit them often and nothing but little arguments would happen. Yet, they didn't know what would happen later that day would change everything.

As they arrived and went inside, Sigala went to Aaron’s room (his cousin) to play together on Aaron’s Nintendo Switch. “Everything was normal and seemed perfectly fine, just like any other visit,” states Sigala.

As the day went on, things started to get a little heated between them, yet no one else thought anything of it because little kids tend to argue over small things. Yet little did they know things were starting to get physical. “ It all started because I beat him in a game of Mario Kart,” recalls Sigala.

Everyone would randomly hear yelling and things being tossed around, yet still, this didn't catch anyone’s attention because they all knew they were playing the game. It suddenly went quiet, and everyone rushed to the room to see what had happened. Sigala was sitting on the floor, staring and holding his finger.

While Aaron was on the bed holding scissors, “I was in shock and didn't know what to do or how to react to what had just occurred,” says Sigala. “I never would've thought that would be possible or happen over winning a simple game,” states Sigala.

As everyone came in, his mother started screaming at the sight of her son’s fingertip being cut open. Everyone else stood there in silence, not knowing what to do.

At this point, Sigala had run to the restroom to get something to try and clean the blood off and see how bad the cut was, yet the bleeding wouldn’t stop. Sigala and his family got all their things and left. They went to the hospital to see if he would need stitches. “At first, the cut seemed pretty bad. It was a deep cut, yet not deep enough to need stitches,” recalls Sigala.

After they left the hospital, Sigala explained to his family what had occurred, “Aaron had grabbed scissors and started chasing me with them. I tried to take them from him, but they were open,” says Sigala. “When I grabbed them, he closed them and my finger was between the scissors, and he cut it open,” states Sigala.

After that incident, Sigala and his family stopped visiting Aaron’s family as often. Sigala also stopped talking to Aaron and has never been close to Aaron ever since.
