Nataly Sanchez is a freshman at Rialto High School who has always been interested in and has fun making videos in her free time. She makes different videos, whether lip-syncing, get-ready with me videos, showing her outfit, etc. She also posts these videos on the TikTok platform for others to see.
One day in the summer, Sanchez created a new account to dedicate mostly to her GRWM videos as she thought it would be fun. Once she made the first video, she contemplated posting it. “I thought maybe just friends or a couple of people would see it, so I wasn’t thinking too hard about it,” Sanchez says.
Then, she posted it and went on with her day like normal. As the day went by, she realized her video was actually getting a lot of attention. “As I checked my phone and checked my TikTok, the video would get hundreds of views and likes every minute,” Sanchez said.
“I was honestly shocked at how much attention it was getting and I was even getting overwhelmed as so many people were commenting as well. The comments were all positive too so it was something nice to see.”
As far as the comments, Sanchez shares, “I would get a lot of different types of comments. Some complimented me on different things, and others asked for more videos, too. Some also asked about the different products I was using since they liked how I did my makeup.”
“I never expected to get so much interaction and people seeing my video, but I couldn’t believe so many people enjoyed watching the videos I liked making.” She says when asked about the situation. “The positive feedback helps me make more content as I can see that people are actually enjoying the videos that I make.”
She also mentioned that people requested different types of videos from her. “Many people started to ask for tutorials on how I do specific makeup looks or ask me to make videos on how I do my hairstyles. Some even ask about the skincare and haircare I use as well, which is surprising to me,” Sanchez stated.
She mentioned that from that video, she made a platform on which she can do what she enjoys with people who are always positive about it. “I was scared for a long time to start a platform on TikTok,” she stated. “Lots of people are really judgemental, and social media can bring lots of negativity and cyberbullying. I am just glad that my videos reach the right people and that they keep my platform a positive place for everyone,” Sanchez continued.
She shares, “That video that blew up had 16.8 thousand likes and 163 comments, which is still so crazy to me. But on my account overall, I have 3,388 followers and 224.1 thousand likes which is in total of all my videos.”
“Overall, I think that this experience has changed my perspective on social media a lot, and I hope that I can help make people more comfortable and confident about themselves as well. I want them to receive the same compliments and support that I have been getting from them.”
