Cooking with Sam
Hey guys and welcome back to Cooking with Sam! On today’s episode, we will be attempting to cook Potato Corner fries!! They’re my favorite thing ever. Every time I go to Ontario Mills I have to get some, no matter what. My favorite flavors are their Chili BBQ and Sour Cream. I am going to try and make Chili BBQ. Except, I will have to use sweet potato instead of regular.
First, I'm going to make the seasoning. I found a video on YouTube that supposedly is the recipe. I have basically all the ingredients. It’s:
-
½ cup chili powder
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
1 ½ tsp cumin
1 tsp dried oregano
2 tsp paprika
2 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp salt
-
So actually I lied. For this, I did NOT have the chili powder, garlic powder, or onion powder. So instead of that I went in with Lawry’s garlic salt to replace the garlic and onion powder. A whole tsp for that. Then I had to make chili powder, so I looked in my cabinets. I manifested it. I had chile pods of Arbol, and somehow when I blended them it came out to be the exact amount I needed. I love it when things like that happen to me. When everything works out.
Except I'd spoken too soon. I peeled the potato skin off. I ended up hurting myself doing it
because I had too much confidence about it. It was my first time I think. I thought I could go fast. But no. I fainted. It’s because the potato peeler went under my nail and every time I moved it, it burned and bled and I started seeing black. I had to lay down on the couch for like five minutes. Also, on a side note, I found out recently that I'm anemic?? Anyways, after you’ve got your peeled potatoes, you cut them into little bits of fries. Mine came out pretty cute.
Then I was left with two options. Either put them in the oven or on a pan with a lot of grapeseed oil on high heat. I wanted to try out the pan. It’s more satisfying to hear it cooking. I (sort of) timed it and would flip them every 10 minutes or so. They weren’t cooking that fast, in my opinion. It was tiring and I must’ve been flipping fries for an hour and a half. Yikes. That’s my fault though I could’ve done it some other way but yeah. Then the rest just took off from there. I put them on a big plate and poured the seasoning all over them.
They were so spicy. Didn’t taste much like Potato Corner (but they were good). Would I make them again? Not for myself.. for my worst enemy. Maybe it’s T.M.I. to put this on here but they had me DYING in the bathroom. Left my butt feeling spicy.
I LOVE SAMI ARTICLES
